Perl Win32::OLE WinHttp (mshttps.pm) bug with Win 2003+

31 Mar

Windows 2003+ moved DLL’s to the Side-By-Side (SxS) configuration.

This breaks the Perl mshttps.pm library which relies on registry entries.

You can put a fix in for this by editing mshttps.pm and creating the object by its name (rather than using the CLSID).

Edit mshttps.pm and put in:

$obj = Win32::OLE->new(“WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1”) if (!defined($obj)) ;

At the bottom of the _get_winhttp_object_via_OLE($@) sub (i.e. before the object is returned)
